Don't miss 'West Side Story'


Mark Keppel parents and producers, Lee Briggs and Leslie Waltzer,

invite everyone to this weekend's final performances of the Stepping

Stone Players production, "West Side Story."

Directed by Susan Kussman, "West Side Story" will be performed at

7 tonight and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hoover High School Auditorium, 651

Glenwood Road, Glendale. Sunday's performance includes American Sign

Language interpretation. For information on becoming a Stepping Stone

The big news of the week is Back-to-School Night on Thursday. The

counselors will give a presentation from 5:30 to 6:20 p.m. in Room

401. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., parents can meet their child's teachers

and hear about what will be taught in their classes. A pink flier was

sent home last week to be used as a guide, as parents follow their

child's class schedule.

The PTSA's College/Career Center program will begin at 7 p.m. Oct.

12 in the College/Career Center in Room 201. Parents can find out

about college planning, career planning, work permits, job shadowing,

where to find college/ career information on the Internet,

scholarships and more.

Volun- teers are still needed for Hoover's Tour of Homes planned

for Dec. 4. To help, call Debra Lere at 246-5444.

PTA President Lisa Deyell extends a huge thank you to all involved

for the recent school event, "Hot September Night" on Sept. 16,

featuring country music singer, Glen Temple.

Preparations are underway for Red Ribbon Week, from Oct. 18 to 28.

All are invited to the next PTA meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 21. The

program will feature the topic of bullying.

Balboa is under construction. Check with the office for the

meeting location. The Pumpkin Patch sale will be from 2:30 to 6 p.m.

Oct. 28.

PTA President Kahlena Funk thanks all Keppel parents, students,

staff, teachers and administrators for their involvement helping to

raise funds for the new kindergarten playground. This gift from the

PTA cost $11,000.

The Glendale Unified District partnered with Keppel PTA to pay for

the sponge-ground safety matting. The playground will open for

students to enjoy on Monday.
