BOYS’ WATER POLO
La Canada 36, San Marino 4: Doug McNeese scored eight goals and
teammates Jordan Thompson and Devon Borisoff added seven apiece to
spark the visiting Spartans in the Rio Hondo League opener on
Tuesday.
La Canada (9-6), ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division
III, received six goals each from Matt Blatchley and Scott Burns, and
two from Chris Wehrle.
Chadwick 10, Flintridge Prep 7: The Rebels dropped their Prep
League road match Tuesday.
They will next play Pasadena at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at home.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Hoover 3, Muir 0: The Tornadoes won their Pacific League opener,
25-12, 25-10, 25-11, on Tuesday at home.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto 3, Holy Family 2: Laura Estrada recorded 15
kills for Holy Family in Tuesday’s 25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 23-25, 17-15
Horizon League road match.
Tiffany Benitez added five aces and 23 assists for Holy Family
(1-6, 0-2 in league).
GIRLS’ GOLF
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 236, Louisville 336: Marcela
Campbell led the Tologs with a six-over-par 41 on Tuesday in a
Mission League match at the Woodland Hills Country Club.
Teammate Lauren Wheeler shot a 42 and Jenny Kim had a 49 for
Flintridge Sacred Heart (4-2, 3-0 in league).
Crescenta Valley 231, Westridge 264: Christine Cho carded a
four-over-par 40 on Monday to lead the Falcons (6-4) in a nonleague
match at Brookside Golf Course No. 2.
Amy Pramuantong shot a 42 for CV.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Bakersfield College 2, Glendale Community College 1: Abby
Castellon scored the lone goal for the Vaqueros (7-2, 1-1 in Western
State Conference) in Friday’s road conference match.
GCC began the week with a 2-0 win against Santa Monica City
College on Sept. 28.
Cara Hofstad and Mayra Santiago each scored a goal for the
Vaqueros, who recorded their fifth shutout of the season.
MEN’S SOCCER
Glendale Community College 1, Mission College 1: The Vaqueros
concluded the week with a tie in their Western State Conference
contest.
GCC (2-5-3,1-2-2 in conference) started the week with a 2-0 defeat
against College of the Canyons on Sept. 28.
MEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY
Glendale Community College in Bakersfield Invitational: The
Vaqueros finished third with 78 points in the four-mile event Friday.
Raymundo Vasquez led GCC with a fifth-place finish in 22 minutes
30 seconds. GCC’s Ricky Hernandez was 15th (23:09), Osbaldo Vargas
took 19th (23:31), Joseph Lopez finished 21st (23:41) and Preston
Richardson took 22nd (23:46).
WOMEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY
Glendale Community College in Bakersfield Invitational: Maribel
Cespedes finished fifth in 23 minutes 3 seconds in the three-mile
race Friday.
GCC placed fifth with 150 points.
GCC’s Itzel Varagas took 10th (23:13), Lucia Tecaxco was 23rd
(24:26), Imelda Vasquez placed 53rd (28:10) and Connie Macias
finished 56th (28:31).
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Santa Ana City College 3, Glendale Community College 1: Samantha
Rivero led GCC with a team-best 13 kills and teammate Lindsay Kline
added 27 assists to lead the host Vaqueros, who fell, 30-28, 24-30,
30-20, 30-28 in a nonconference match Sept. 29.
GCC (1-3) received 14 digs from Jocelyn Abad.
