Artists Share Exhibit Space at Descanso’s Boddy House Gallery

Four artists will share exhibit space at Descanso Gardens’ Boddy House Gallery through March 3.

Visitors to the gallery have a chance not only to see and buy the artworks, but also to meet and talk with the artists. At least one of the exhibiting artists is at the gallery during open hours. Visits to the gallery are free with Gardens Admission.

Louise Forbes and her paintings on wood offer “A Glimpse into Nature’s Realm.” Her oil paintings of wildlife, fantasy flowers and hidden surprise subjects follow the natural grain of wood panels to bring delightful surprises to the viewer. Louise’s work, like that of many Boddy House exhibitors, also is reproduced on cards and other items.

Margot Lennartz will exhibit “California Colors,” oil paintings alive with vibrant colors and contemporary realism. Her landscapes will include plein air paintings of sea, mountain and desert scenes throughout the state.

Lisa Lopuck brings a photo quality to her close-up watercolors of flowers. This first-time Descanso exhibitor uses vivid color and realism in her work that has led critics to refer to her as a “modern Georgia O’Keefe.”

Jim Yurk, an award-winning potter who has exhibited many times before, offers work that is both functional and decorative. He returns this year with unusual stoneware impressions of wall-hung flowers.

Descanso Gardens is at 1418 Descanso Drive in La Cañada Flintridge.

The gardens are open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Admission fees are $7 for adults; $5 for seniors and students; $2 for children 5 to 12, and free for members and children 5 and younger. Fees for classes and programs include gardens admission. For information call 949-4200 or visit www.DescansoGardens.org.
