Residents may see relaxing days ahead as Massage Envy, a provider of

massage therapy services, opens its first Los Angeles-area clinic in

Glendale.

The owners plan to franchise the business, with a goal of opening

more than 50 locations in the area, said Andrew Garsten, a regional

developer with the company.

“The clinic will serve both large businesses and the residential

community because of its location on Brand Boulevard,” Garsten said.

“It’s also a location that would be successful as a franchise. It’s a

nice setting that people can relate to.”

Since there is a lot of available office space in the city,

Massage Envy is a welcome sight to city officials.

“It’s always great to get new business in the city,” said council

member Dave Weaver.

Massage Envy will offer licensed therapists who will adapt to the

needs of their clients. The clinic will assess what problems the

client has and match clients to the perfect therapeutic massage,

Garsten said.

“We rely on three things at Massage Envy,” he said. “We’re

professional, convenient and affordable.”

The state-of-the-art massage clinic, at 333 N. Brand Blvd., will

offer various massage services, including sports, Swedish and

deep-tissue massages. An introductory massage for a first-time client

costs $39.

The business offers a $59 monthly membership, which includes

reduced rates for a second and third massage each month.

“People should be able to afford massages on a regular basis

instead of just special occasions and vacations,” Garsten said. “It

should be a part of people’s health and wellness routine, like going

to the gym or seeing a nutritionist.”

And the hours are long. “We’re open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. during

weekdays,” Garsten said.

They are also open on weekends.

“We offer portable memberships,” Garsten said. “There are 45

locations all across the country and 100 more in development, and

clients can go to a Massage Envy wherever they are.”
