Descanso to Tour Santa Barbara Orchid Show

Seats are available for Descanso Gardens’ March 25 tour of the prestigious Santa Barbara International Orchid Show. Reservations must be made by Monday, March 20.

The tour will leave Descanso Gardens at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 25, and visit the Orchid show and the Gallup & Stribling Orchid Farm.

The theme of the 60th annual orchid show is: “Lights...Camera...Orchids!” Scores of commercial and amateur growers from throughout the Western states and Pacific Rim countries will display thousands of their finest orchids.

After lunch, the next tour stop will be in Carpinteria, at the 48-acre orchid farm of Gallup & Stribling, the world’s largest producer of cymbidium orchids. Hundreds of orchid plants will be available for purchase. The group will return to Descanso Gardens by 4:30 or 5 p.m. The fee for this tour includes tickets to the orchid show, lunch and bus transportation. Participants should arrive at the Descanso Gardens Visitor Center by 7:45 a.m. Fee is $85 ($80 members). To reserve call 949-7980 by March 20.
