AYSO Registers Record Number of Players

More than 3,200 players have signed up to play in the American Youth Soccer Organization’s (AYSO) Region 88 this fall, a new record for the sports group.

The total was 3,242, said AYSO Commissioner Aldo Mascheroni, who is in his third year as the top AYSO official.

Some 285 teams, made up of players from Glendale, La Crescenta, La Cañada Flintridge, Eagle Rock, Atwater Village and Sunland, will play on Saturdays and Sundays in Glendale area parks and schools.

Teams are formed by the end of July with practices beginning in August each year. The season begins in September. This year, opening day is Sept. 9.
