Glendale College seeking golfers/coach
Glendale Community College is seeking men and women golfers to field teams that will compete in the Western State Conference starting in 2007.
The college will also be hiring a head coach for both teams.
Superintendent/President Dr. Audre Levy gave her support to reinstating the golf program.
“I’m very happy that we will be reinstating intercollegiate golf at the college as a way of providing local student-athletes an opportunity to play competitive golf close to home,” Levy said.
“Additionally, I’m pleased that we will have a women’s team to compliment what is available for the men so that we increase our offerings for female student-athletes.”
The men’s team will compete in the spring of 2007 and the women’s team will compete in the fall of 2007. The teams will practice and play at local courses in and around Southern California.
Glendale Community College fielded a golf program until the mid-1980’s when budget cuts forced the team to be discontinued.
Men and women interested in playing on the golf teams and individuals interested in coaching should contact men’s athletic director Jim Sartoris at (818) 240-1000, ext. 5371, or e-mail him at sartoris@glendale.edu.
