Four artists exhibit at Descanso Gardens’ Boddy House Gallery at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, through Nov. 26. Miriam Balcazar creates high and low fire ceramics and sculpture, Linda Fiedler is known for exotic watercolors, Linda DuPas and Frank Lennartz both specialize in plein air and studio oil paintings of nature. The Boddy House Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and entrance is free with $7 Gardens admission, $5 for seniors and students, $2 for children 5 to 12 and free for members and children 5 and under. The First Baptist Church of La Crescenta will hold a Fall Family Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. in the church parking lots at 4441 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta. There will be a costume contest with prizes, square dancing, music, a cake walk, free game booths, jumpers and candy. There will also be a chili cook off. Descanso Gardens presents a Japanese Garden Festival with activities and shows from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 4 and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. Students and an instructor from the Urasenki Tradition of Tea will introduce two tea ceremonies. Indoor tea times will be at 10, 10:40 and 11:20 a.m. and noon at the Minka in the Japanese Garden on both days as well as outdoor tea times will be 10, 10:40 and 11:20 a.m. Participation is available on a first-come, first-served basis with reservations available at 9 a.m. each morning at the Minka for $2 a person. Taiko drummers will play from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 4 with opportunities for the public to try their hand at the drums from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5.
