Verdugo Hills Council Is a Quality Council All Around

The Verdugo Hills Council of the Boy Scouts of America has achieved a Quality Council status. This recognition is given to councils that commit to, and meet standards specified by, the national offices of Boy Scouts of America pertaining to camping frequency, leader training, youth advancement, membership growth and service.

The Verdugo Hills Council is divided into the Iron Eyes Cody District and the Foothill District. Both of these districts also met standards set by the national offices of Boy Scouts of America and achieved a separate status of Quality District.

“Achieving the status of a Quality Council is a clear sign of commitment and dedication to the program by all of our volunteers as well as financial support from our local businesses and civic organizations,” said Ross Kelsey, volunteer District Commissioner for the Foothill District.

With almost all new professional staff in place for 2006, the Verdugo Hills Council has work tirelessly along side its more than 1500 volunteer leaders to better serve more than 5540 youth in our local communities.

Even more evident that the Verdugo Hills Council is a Quality Council are the nearly 80 young men that earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2006.

The Verdugo Hills Council has programs that include Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing, Learning for Life and Exploring programs.
