Theme Park Review:Disneyland Is Rockin’

On Jan. 3, Disneyland Theme Park and Resort debuted its newest attractions and they “rock”!
“Rockin’ Both Parks” is a new adjustment to some old favorites. Space Mountain at Disneyland Park and California Screamin’ at Disney’s California Adventure Park have new soundtracks by the Red Hot Chili Peppers synced to every turn and drop of the ride while Rockin’ Space Mountain has a laser light show in the mountain.
Space Mountain was only recently reopened as traditional Space Mountain on July 17, 2005, after a several year long refurbishment. It opened new and improved, but with still the same space themed ride. Now, with the new “Rock” theme, instead of stars and planets, there are lasers and projections of dancers.
This was experimented for the first time as “Rock-It Mountain” at last year’s “Grad Night” — a Disneyland night time celebration for graduating high school seniors. “Rock-It Mountain” met rave reviews and soon after, the Rockin’ Both Parks promotion was announced.
“It was really cool,” said Crescenta Valley High School senior Daniel Vegerano. “I didn’t really expect there to be much of a difference from when last I went but with the lights and the music and everything — it was really cool.”
Now Space Mountain and California Screamin’ are both the big attractions for crowds with standby wait times of up to 90 minutes and Disney’s Fast Pass service completely booked by 1 p.m.
For those planning to experience this new Rockin’ change to either park, remember this new attraction is popular. The line gets long fast, and by mid-day it is a very long wait. Make this the first attraction of the day or get a Fast Pass early in the day before everyone else does. These rides rock! “Rockin’ Both Parks” will run from now until April 26.
