Valentino’s Salon and Spa Celebrates Reopening

Valentino’s Salon and Spa recently celebrated a grand reopening of its family-owned business. Those who visit the salon at 1403 W. Kenneth Road, Glendale will benefit from the efforts of the entire Grubbs team.

Mom Lyn owned a nail salon in the early 1980s, and was known in the industry as an award-winning sculptured-nail competitor and judge. However, when the time came to raise her children, she stepped back from her career to concentrate on mothering full time. Now, more than 20 years later, she reentered the beauty industry armed not only with knowledge and enthusiasm, but with the assistance of her two daughters, Katie and Jennifer.

Katie works side-by-side with mom, having received her nail technician license. She specializes in gel and acrylic nails. Jennifer graduated from La Cañada High School in 2000, then completed a business degree from Loyola Marymount University in 2004, and became a licensed esthetician soon after. Dad Gary is a certified public accountant who helps oversee the business aspects of the salon.

Mayor David Weaver and members of the Glendale Chamber of Commerce were on hand for the official ribbon cutting ceremony in February. The day was rich with family, friends, current and new customers. Services and products were raffled and everyone who attended was given a complimentary aromatherapy candle, home-made by Lyn, with a coupon for a discount on future services.

The family bought the business in March 2006, then went to work, extensively remodeling and redecorating the salon and spa according to Feng Shui principles, finally changing the name to Valentino’s Salon and Spa. The name Valentino’s is especially poignant as it is the name of Lyn’s late son, Valentino.

The shop prides itself in providing quality services with the finest professional beauty products at affordable prices. They offer a two week guarantee on acrylic and gel nails, a policy that Lyn originated at her salon in 1982.
