BASEBALL

Glendale 9, Pasadena 4: Jesse Meaux threw six innings on Tuesday for the win at Pasadena, as the Nitros improved to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in Pacific League.

Victor Anaya had three runs batted in and Jonathan Cruz had two.

Flintridge Prep 13, Webb 3: The Rebels relied on Ben Slyngstad to pitch 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to tally the save on Tuesday.

Flintridge Prep scored in bunches late to improve to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in Prep League play.

Max Armand had two hits, including a home run, and scored twice. Will Peterman had three hits and two runs batted in.

SOFTBALLThe Rebels fell to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the Prep League with Tuesday’s loss.

Westridge 8, Flintridge Prep 1:

Lydia Kay, Mary McCluggage, Ashley Wood and Shannon Adelman all had extra-base hits.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Loyola 3, St. Francis 0: The Golden Knights fell to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in Mission League play.

Herbie Campbell and Danny Valdez combined for seven kills.

MEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 5, Bakersfield College 0: The host Vaqueros won all five singles matches Tuesday in a Western State Conference Southern Division match. The contest was called because of bad weather, but the Vaqueros (5-4, 3-2 in conference) won the minimum amount of sets to make it an official match.

Dylan Kim, a Hoover High graduate, posted a 6-0, 6-0 win. Norik Otuzbiryan won 6-4, 6-4 for the Vaqueros, who got a 6-0, 6-5 victory from Derik DerMegerdichian. Matthew Tatatao posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory for Glendale college, which got a 6-3, 6-1 win from Greg Arutyunyan. The Vaqueros will next compete at 2 p.m. Thursday against Bakersfield College.

BOYS’ GOLF

Flintridge Prep 215, Maranatha 219: Junior Hasan Doxey carded a two-over-par 37 on Monday to lead the Rebels (5-4) in a nonleague match at Altadena Golf Course.

Drew Titus fired a 42 for Flintridge Prep, which got a 43 from Michael Langer.

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Bakersfield Invitational: Freshman Tove Berg captured two events on Saturday, including setting a school record in the 5,000-meter race with a mark of 17 minutes 29.13 seconds.

Berg also won the 1,500 in a personal-best time of 4:45.33. Hoover High graduate Lili Hernandez won the 3,000 steeplechase (11:47.46) and took sixth in the 800 in a personal-best time of 2:27.5.

Glendale college’s Desiree Ruiz took second in the 3,000 steeplechase with a personal-best mark of 12:14.06. Teammate Sandra Martinez was fourth in the 800 in a personal-best time of 2:25.9.

Glendale college’s 4x400 relay team of Martinez, Crisel Venancio, Ruiz and Hernandez took fourth (4:27.32).

The Vaqueros will next participate Friday in the Riverside College Invitational.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Bakersfield Invitational: Michael Flowers of Glendale college won the 800-meter event in a personal-best time of 1 minute 57.15 seconds on Saturday. He also finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-best mark of 9:40.82.

Glendale college’s Chris Lopez posted a personal-best mark of 15:39.82 to win the 5,000 race. He took second in the 1,500 (4:08.31). The 4x400 relay team of Troy Huzienga, Ricky Davis, Flowers and Chris Marshall finished first in a season-best time of 3:22.75.

Alonzo Menifield of Glendale college finished second in the javelin with a throw of 151 feet 8. James Poet took second in the hammer (138-5), sixth in the discus (117-7) and 10th in the shotput (36-10).

Davis was third in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 22-1. Teammate Varaz Markarady placed third in the high jump (5-10).

The Vaqueros will next participate Friday in the Riverside College Invitational.

RAINOUTS

An assortment of local games were not played on Tuesday due to inclement weather.

Crescenta Valley High’s boys’ tennis match at Burbank will now be played on April 10.

Hoover was scheduled to host Burroughs in boys’ tennis, baseball and softball — all at 3:15 p.m. All three events are slated to be played today at the same time.
