Autism Alliance offering fun at park

The Foothill Autism Alliance presents the ninth annual Spring Picnic and Fun Festival from noon to 3 p.m. today at Lower Scholl Canyon Park, 2847 E. Glenoaks Blvd.

There will be a barbecue, face painting, crafts, entertainment and prizes.

Star Wars characters will pose for pictures with families.

Children will be able to meet the city of Glendale K-9 Unit police dogs.

Relay for Life event coming to foothills

The seventh annual Foothills Relay For Life will start at 9 a.m. and end at 9 a.m. on May 20 at the Clark Magnet School, 4747 New York Ave., La Crescenta.

The event is held to enhance awareness of cancer and raise money for the American Cancer Society.

A day for checking safety of child seats

The Kiwanis Club of Glendale and the California Highway Patrol are sponsoring “Child Seat Checkup Day” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 19 at Edison Elementary School, 435 S. Pacific Ave., Glendale.

Participants will have their child’s car safety seat inspected to determine whether it is installed and being used properly.

New safety seats will be installed for vehicles that have unsafe seats.

Towne Singers to perform at Alex

The Towne Singers internationally acclaimed chorus will perform the music of Leonard Bernstein in a program titled “Bernstein Story” at 6 p.m. on June 10 at the Alex Theatre, 215 N. Brand Blvd.
