Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce: Golf Tournament News and a Fun Way to Support Fireworks
- Share via
The Chamber’s Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament is this Saturday, June 9. Last year’s winners, Rose Mary Flint and Jay Chase, will be back to defend their titles. There will be no need to tip a caddy, as there are none — no golf carts either. It’s an exercise day. The good part is you can use your expensive golf balls as there are no waterholes to lose them in. Just a friendly and possibly entertaining morning of golf.
Verdugo Hills Golf Course is a par 3 normally and there will be some fun holes along the way as well as the chance to win $5,000. No mulligans to be used on this hole. The Mercury Insurance man is sponsoring this hole (a.k.a. Rick Dinger of CV Insurance) and wants you to win. But one winner only.
When everyone returns, and most do, we will introduce our CV scholarship recipients. We will be introducing Todd Hessick, Joyce Win Ho, Chelsea Johnson and Keaton Ray. Congratulations to all of them and congratulations to Crescenta Valley High School student Rosetta Ragusa on being recognized by Congressman David Dreier at the Youth Volunteer Awards Program. Rosetta is also featured in the current Seventeen Magazine.
Cost for the tournament is $40, and includes a light breakfast and lunch. There will be plenty of great prizes to win. The shotgun tournament starts at 8 a.m.
The June mixer will be hosted by Paul’s Professional Window Washing on Wednesday, June 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. The official window washing contest will take place next to the bucket brigade. Be sure to bring your business cards. Paul’s is located at 2707 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta.
You can help donate to the 4th of July fireworks during the month of June at Dream Dinners in La Crescenta. Book a session with them and create healthy entrees for your freezer in less than two hours. Use this gourmet fresh food to pull a ready to cook meal from your freezer. There is a minimum purchase required for the CV Fireworks fundraiser. Call Lisa or Lissa for more details at 957-1499. Dream Dinners is at 4121 Pennsylvania (west side, below the 210 freeway). The viewing for the fireworks will be on the playground of La Crescenta Elementary School this year. The gates will open at 5 p.m. and tickets, which will be available at the chamber office, are $5; children two and under are free.
This past weekend took us to the Montrose Craft Fair. We strolled through the streets, smelling tempting foods, but our feet were bound for Zeke’s Smokehouse, indulging in a mouth-watering slow cooked pulled pork sandwich.
