High School

Katie Watson — $1,000

My name is Katherine Watson and I attend Hoover High School. This $1,000 Scholarship will go toward my tuition at California State University of Northridge. I aspire to become a Junior High history teacher with a Masters in both History and Education. I played soccer in Glendale for many years.

Sue Jin Park — $1,000

My name is Sue Jin Park. I attend Hoover High School. I have been awarded $1,000, which will help me attend University of California, Berkeley as a business major. Throughout high school, I have been involved in various activities such as Key Club, French Club, Girl’s Volleyball, and the school newspaper.

Sue Kim — $1,000

My name is Sue Kim. I am honored to receive $1,000 from the Glendale Community Foundation. I attend Hoover High School, and will attend the University of California, Berkeley as a Biology Major this fall. Active in my school community, I am the Varsity Tennis Captain and Vice President of Academics and California Scholarship Federation.

Arpa Avanessian — $1,000

My name is Arpa Avanessian and I attend Herbert Hoover High School. I have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship in which I will use at University of California, Los Angeles in the fall of 2007 as I major in biology and minor in Spanish. I intend on being in the medical field.

Ruzan Stepanyan — $1,000

My name is Ruzan Stepanyan. I am a senior in Hoover High School. I received a $1,000 scholarship. I got into the University of California, Berkeley. But I am planning to go to Glendale Community College, and transfer to the University of California, Los Angeles. I am going to major in political science and go to a law school after getting my bachelors degree. I am the president of the Russian Club. I have participated in the Relay for Life Program, and raised money for cancer survivors.

Teny Nazari — $1,000

My name is Teny Nazari and attend Herbert Hoover High School. I have been given a $1,000 scholarship. I am going to attend the University of California, Los Angeles in the fall and plan to double major in physiological science and art history. I hope to eventually pursue a career in medicine.

Cynthia Velasquez — $500

My name is Cynthia Velasquez and I attend Hoover High School. I was given the $500 scholarship. I am attending Cal Poly Pomona this fall and I am majoring in Graphic Design. For two years, I participated as a mentor in the program La Vanguardia to encourage middle school students to attend college

Joanna Cordero — $1,000

Joanna Cordero is Hoover High School’s Student Body President. Varsity Cheer Captain and Copy Editor of the Tornado Times. Attending the University of California, Santa Barbara in the fall. She will major in Communications and put her $1,000 endowment to good use. She hopes to pursue a career in advertising.

Vahan Torosian — $1,000

My name us Vahan Torosian and I am currently a senior at Herbert Hoover High School. After graduation, I plan to attend the University of California, San Diego and major in Biology. I am fortunate enough to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Glendale Scholarship Foundation, for which I am greatly thankful, and commend the organization for helping young students with financial needs.

Tatevik Khachatryan — $1,000

My name is Tatevik Khachatryan. I am a student at Herbert Hoover High School. I have received a scholarship award of one thousand dollars. I will use my scholarship at the University of California, San Diego to pursue my major in Biology in order to obtain a career as an optometrist.

Alla Gevorgyan — $1,000

My name is Alla Gevorgyan. I am a student at Herbert Hoover High School and I have received a scholarship of $1,000. I will attend the University of California, Irvine. I will major in Biology. I have been involved in community service and school clubs.

Anna Meloyan — $500

My name is Anna Meloyan and I attend Hoover High School. I received a scholarship award of $500, which I will use to embark on my journey at a community college with hopes of attending a reputable university in the near future.

Anna Harutyunyan — $500

My name is Anna Harutyanyan. I came to the United States of America in 2001, and now I am a senior at Herbert Hoover High School. This year I got an opportunity to fill out an application for a scholarship. Two days ago I received a letter where I found out that I got a $500 award. I am very thankful that I was worthy of it. Next year, I am planning to go to Glendale Community College to continue my education. I want to become a surgeon, so I am going to continue to study very hard. I am very serious about my future career, and I’ll do my best to reach my goal.

Nayera Senane — $500

My name is Nayera Senane, I attend Herbert Hoover High School and I am planning on attending Glendale Community College after high school then transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles to major in chemistry or biology.

Arsen Musulyan — $500

My name is Arsen Musulyan. I am attending Hoover High School. I was awarded $500 scholarship. I plan to attend Glendale Community College. I major at college will be communication studies to prepare me for my future career which is lawyer. I have volunteered for Chahe Keroukelian (candidate for a city council). This will help my major because I plan to study law.

Lala Shabani — $500

My name is Lala Shabani and I currently attend Herbert Hoover High School. I’ve been awarded $500 from the Glendale Community Foundation. I have dreams of transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles after completing a year at Glendale Community College. I’m also hoping to advance to law school after earning my Bachelors in Political Science (minor: Economics). I’m currently working at the City of Glendale Finance Dept. and Hoover High School’s after school tutoring Homework Lab.

Andrea Vartanian — $500

My name is Andrea Vartanian and I attend Hoover High School. I am honored to receive a $500 scholarship from the Glendale Community Foundation. I will be attending Glendale Community College where I am currently applying for the Scholars Program. I plan to transfer to a University where I will study to become a math teacher. Throughout my four years of high school, I’ve dedicated many hours of community service which is why I received The Presidential Service Award from the White House and Hoover’s Volunteer Service Medal.

Sevana Meserkhani — $1000

My name is Sevana Meserkhani and I’m in my fourth year at Hoover High School. I was awarded $1000. I plan to attend the University of California, Irvine, next year. I haven’t exactly set my mind on what I’d like to major in, but my interest, include economics and an intent to attend law school. I’ve volunteered in my community and participated in activities, such as Tour of Homes and Relay for Life.

Ailin Pedrossian — $250

My name is Ailin Pedrossian and I am a senior at Hoover High School. Next year I plan to attend the Glendale Community College Scholars Program. I would like to eventually major in Cinema and Television or Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles. I have prepared for this by being involved in Drama in junior high and high school.

Tautvydas Skorka — $500

Currently I attend Hoover High School. I’m planning to attend Glendale Community College in the fall and later I plan to transfer to a University of California. My major and career is going to be in Information Technology. I participated in the Rose Parade, and the YMCA. The Scholarship I received is in the amount of $500.

Talin Oromieh— $500

I am Talin Mehranian, Hoover High School’s student. In my short time in the United States of America I made up my missing credits, which are required for graduation. I can never forget the first days of school in America, where I started as a junior last year. It was formidable to be in an American school without knowing English. I was confused and displaced, but due to supportive students and teachers I found myself.

Now I am graduating form Hoover High School With A $500 scholarship award. I have been selected as a recipient of a scholarship grant from the Glendale Foundation scholarship. After graduation, I will continue my education a Glendale Community College to study Pharmacy Technology. When I transfer to a University, I will continue my educational goal of becoming a Pharmacist. But academics are not my only pursuit. I also have a talent for playing tennis. In the summer of 2006 I joined the Hoover High School’s Tennis team. I was one of the best players on the team but because of night school I could not continue on the team. I am gratified that I passed my two years in America with success and awards. I look forward to future challenges.

Susan Zargarian — $2,000

My name is Susan Zargarian and I attend Hoover High School. I received the $2000 scholarship. I am attending the University of California, Los Angeles this fall and majoring in Biology or Chemistry, with plans of becoming a pediatrician. I participated in Relay for Life and was an AVID tutor at Toll Middle School my junior year.

Talar Tfnakjian — $500

My name is Talar Tfnakjian. I attend Herbert Hoover High School. The Glendale Community Foundation awarded me a generous amount of money totaling at $500. I plan to attend the Glendale Community College and then transfer to the University of California, Los Angeles. My interest field is genetic engineering. I have participated in Armenian Club in my high school and a Humanity Organization outside of school.

Tammy Zendejas — $1,000

My name is Tammy Zendejas, I attend Hoover High School, and have been involved in AVID, La Vanguardia, the Red Cross, and Relay for Life. I have been awarded $1,000, and I plan to attend the University of California, San Diego, to pursue a medical career.

Jessica Olivas $1,000

My name is Jessica Olivas and I attend Hoover High School. I plan to attend the University of Norte Dame with an accounting or finance major. I participated in clubs, as well as programs called AVID and La Vanguardia. My scholarship award was for $1,000.

Sharese Mirzakhanyan — $500

My name is Sharese Mirzakhanyan. I attend Herbert Hoover High School. I will be attending Glendale Community College for two years and transfer to the University of California, Riverside afterwards. I am not certain of what career I will pursue, but I am really interested in law. I have been thinking about getting into international law or corporate law. I created the first ever Fashion Club at Hoover and organized the first fashion show.

Justine Soliva — $1,000

I am Justine Soliva and I currently attend Hoover High School. Glendale Community Foundation has graciously awarded me with a $1,000 scholarship, which I plan to use in attendance at Glendale Community College to pursue a career in the field of Economics. I have had unique experiences in multiple musical activities such as Jazz Band and Drum Corps, but I have pursued musical and as well as my musical endeavors in school and outside of school have been the focus of my passion. I have devoted much of my time to my passion for music.

Zohrab Yaralian — $500

I, Zohrab Z. Yaralian, currently attend Herbert Hoover High School. The Glendale Community Foundation has awarded me with five hundred dollars. I still have not decided between attending the University of California, San Diego or the University of the State California via Glendale Community College. My career goal is to become a tax attorney. I have participated in our school’s Associated Student Boyd for two years.

Elmira Momeni — $1,000

My name is Elmira Momeni and I attend Hoover High School. I have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship award. I plan to attend the University of California, San Diego next fall and major in Biology there. Then, I would like to go to dental school and become a Dental Hygenist. At Hoover, I have participated in clubs/activities such as: Key Club, Drama Club, Girls’ Water Polo, and swimming.

Biby Babu (Bibi)

My name is Bibi Babu I am currently attending Clark Magnet High School. I have been awarded a scholarship from the Glendale Community Foundation. I would like to thank the Foundation because now I am motivated to start a scholarship fund of my own in the future and give back to the community. Thank you! I plan to attend the University of California, Berkeley where I will major in pre-medicine. I would like to be a Medical Doctor where I am planning to pursue a career in joining Doctors Without Borders Association and travel to third-world countries. Being a representative as well as a leader for my school is truly an honor.

My name is Tamar Mirzayan and I attend Clark Magnet High School. I would be attending Glendale Community College in the fall and major in English. The career interest I have is to become a teacher. I feel fortunate to have attended such a great school which gave me the confidence to follow my dreams. My name is Nastaran Sayyad and I attend Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I would be attending California State Northridge where I will major in Biology to have a career in Neurology. Clark has provided me with many opportunities and has introduced me to many field studies. My name is Joshua Pineda and I am currently attending Clark Magnet High School. I would be attending the University of California, Irvine in the fall where I will major in Biomedical Engineering. I would like to have a career in the Medical field. My school has prepared me to succeed and thrive in the real world. My name is Gurashish Sikka and I go to Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I will be attending McGill University where I will major in Aeronautical Engineering. The career interest I would like to be in is Aerospace Research. Clark has taught me to live in a diverse environment and prepared me to enter the business world. Tania Espinoza

My name is Tania Espinoza and I currently attending Clark Magnet High School. I will be attending the California State University of Northridge where I will major in English. My career interest is to become a teacher. It used to be difficult to see the value of education, but now as a Clark student I see that it is all worth it. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation because I have been given a better opportunity to continue the cycle of teaching others as I was taught.

Artin Laleian

My name is Artin Laleian and I attend Clark Magnet High School. I plan to attend Glendale Community College next fall to major in Environmental Science. My interest career would have to be something to do with Environmental Science. We have more opportunities here at Clark Magnet than most places, we just have to take them. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation because it helps take some of the load off of going to college, allowing me to keep my focus where it is needed most.

My name is David Ktshozyan and I attend Clark Magnet High School. I plan to attend Glendale Community College in the fall to major in Political Science. I have a career interest in becoming a private defense attorney. Clark Magnet High School has been a home to me that last 4 years and provided me with great memories. My name is Nicole Antoinette D’Netto and I attend Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I plan to attend the University of California, Irvine where I will major in Biology. My career interest is to become a doctor in the future. Clark Magnet was probably the best thing that has happened to me and I am very grateful for it. I really love this school and it has helped me better myself. As a student and a person. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because it has helped me financially and I really needed the help. I don’t think I could have let my parents pay for my entire college education with a clear conscience.

My name is Sevada Abraamyan and I am currently attending Clark Magnet High School. I plan to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara where I will major in Electrical Engineering. My career I am interested in being is Engineering. Clark Magnet High School has been a great help by providing me with the tools to achieve a better education. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because they have helped lessen my worries regarding the amount of loan I had to take.

Meline Babayan

My name is Meline Babayan and I currently am attending Clark Magnet High School. I have not decided where I would attend in the future but I do know I would like to major in Psychology and later have a career as a school Psychologist. Clark Magnet High School has without a doubt, made me the responsible and goal-oriented student I am today. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because now I don’t have to stress on the fact that I will be in financial debt too much. Thank you very much.

My name is Sona Karakashian and I attend Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I would be attend the University of California, Irvine where I would major in Political Science and Business Economics. The career interest I plan to become involved would have to do with law. The opportunities and experiences provided to me by Clark Magnet High School and City of Glendale have instilled in me a willingness to further my education and one day serve our community. My name is Yelena Akopyan and I currently attend Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I plan to attend the University of California, San Diego where I will major in International Studies. The career interest I seek in the future is to one day become an ambassador. I am so glad that I have had the opportunity to live in Glendale and attend a school like Clark Magnet High. The career interest I plan to endure is in pre-medicine. My name is Denise Razana and I currently attend Clark Magnet High School. I plan to attend Glendale Community College in the fall to major in Interpretation/ Translation. I plan to have a career to be a translator in English, Spanish and Sign Language and work with the Government. Clark is a great school. I am glad I have attended my high school years at Clark. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because it is an encouragement to continue school. I am very grateful hat I was awarded this scholarship.

My name is Ruzanna Abovyan and I am attending Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I plan to attend California State University of Northridge to major in Psychology. My career interest is to be in the law field. Clark Magnet High School is a really good school which offers many opportunities for students. My name is Johaina Crisostomo and I currently attend Clark Magnet High School. I will attend Stanford University in the fall where I would study and major in Literature or English Studies. I plan to become a professor of English or a Writer as my career. Clark creates an environment that is truly conducive to the growth of students both as scholars and citizens. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because with the amount of money they’ve granted me, I am now able to pay the full amount of my student contribution to Stanford University.

Min Ju Kim

My name is Min Ju Kim and I currently attend Clark Magnet High School. I will be attending the University of California, Berkeley where I would major I political science. My career interest I seek is to one day become a corporate lawyer. Clark has a warm atmosphere and create a family-like environment between the staff and students. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because the foundation is helping me pay for my college education, which I cannot afford.

Mary Anadolian

My name is Mary Anadolian and I attend Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I will attend Pasadena Community College where I would like to major in art. My career I would like to have is to work in a studio. People outside my school usually make fun of Clark, honestly I do not care, because Clark is the best! I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because the foundation opened the door of opportunities for me and thank them for their generosity.

Anand Sharma

My name is Anand Sharma and I attend Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I plan to attend the University of California, Los Angeles. I really do not know what I want to major in just yet but I would like to have a career in design or business. I like Clark because the people there are interesting and the environment is small and friendly. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because though college is expensive, education is priceless.

Tina Chuvanjyan

My name is Tina Chuvanjyan and I currently attend Clark Magnet High School. In the fall I plan to attend the University of Southern California to major in pre-medical. The career interest I plan on being in a Pediatrician. Since my community has given me much throughout the years, I try my hardest to give back to my community. It’s important to help out in any way you can. I would like to thank the Glendale Community Foundation for this award money because they have given me the extra help I need to help pay for my education.

Michael Seifert

Michael Seifert has been a solid math science technology student. In addition to his work at Clark Magnet, he was a three year member of CVHS Air Force ROTC. He will be attending Emery Riddle in the fall. His goal is to fly planes.

Daily High School

Vivian Monroy — $250

My name is Vivian Monroy and I am seventeen years old. I am presently attending Allan Daily High School. Next year, I plan to attend Santa Monica College. I plan to work toward an Associate in Arts Degree with a Nursing major. My dream is to work in a hospital emergency room helping people in health crisis. My involvement has been primarily in the “Young Parent Education Program” that is designed to help me become a better mother for my son, Evan, who is one year old.

Chris Panosian — $500

My name is Chris Panosian and I attend Allen F. Daily High School. I am proud to accept this scholarship from the Glendale Scholarship Endowment. The school I plan on attending next year is Pasadena Community College. My college plans are to study business investment. I have participated in many activities because of my student board member position. I would like to thank everyone that helped me become who I am today.

Lilit Hairapetyan — $500

My name is Lilit Hairapetyan, and I attend Glendale High School. I would be attending California State University of Northridge. I would be majoring in biology and chemistry. I have been part of AVID for four years. I completed 235 hours of community work, in order to broaden my knowledge.

Mariam Hambarchyan — $2,000

My name is Mariam Hambarchyan and I attend Glendale High School. I received a scholarship award of $2,000 from the Glendale Community Foundation. I will be attending the University of California, Los Angeles this fall to major in English. Participating in the Peer Tutoring Program has taught me significant like skills.

Marina Khachatryan — $1,000

My name is Marina Khachatryan, and I am a senior at Glendale High School. I received a $1,000 scholarship which will be used to finance my education at the University of California, Los Angeles. I was accepted as a Pre-Economics major and am planning on pursuing a career in law. I was the founder and am currently the president of Psychology Club at Glendale High School. My interest include drawing, poetry, as well as music.

Teodora Kolarova — $1,000

My name is Teodora Kolarova and I am currently a senior at Glendale High School. The Glendale Community Foundation has awarded me a $1,000 dollars scholarship towards my college tuition. I plan to attend the University of California, Los Angeles next year, major in biology and continue onto medical school afterwards. In high school, I played volleyball for two years and was a devoted member of Key Club and the Latin Club for four years.

Eun Jung Lee — $500

My name is Eun Jung Lee and I attend Glendale High School. I received a $500 scholarship to aide me in my future education. As of now, I am still deciding which school to attend but I will make a decision soon. My options are between Otis College of Art and Design or Laguna College of Art and Design for an illustration major. I have participated in many school activities and served many hours of community service hours as well.

Ava Khomami Fayaz —

My name is Ava Khomami Fayaz. For the past four years I have attended Glendale High School. I have received two scholarship awards for five hundred dollars each, one from the Oakmont League and another from the Glendale Foundation. It is a pleasure for me to attend California State University of Northridge as a freshman, this coming fall. My major in English and I plan on attending Law School after my undergraduate programs, to pursue a career as an Entertainment Lawyer.

Sarmen Hakopian — $500

My name is Sarmen Hakopian and I’m currently a senior at Glendale High School. I have received a $500 scholarship from the Glendale Scholarship Endowment. I plan to attend Glendale Community College in the hopes of later transferring to the University of Southern California. My goal is to receive a real estate license and become a business major with a minor in psychology. I also plan to stay physically fit by playing soccer at the highest possible level.

Anna Haroutiounian — $500

My name is Anna Haroutiounian and I am attending Glendale High School. I was awarded $500. I plan to attend California State University Northridge and major in Anthropology, focusing on Archaeology. I am a member of the American Red Cross Youth Group and I have volunteered more than 100 hours of community service.

Gaming Li — $500

My name is Gaming Li and I attend Glendale High School. I will receive a $500 scholarship and will be attending the University of California, Los Angeles this fall. I am planning to pursue a career in the medical field. I am the Senior Class President and involved in Track and Field.

Cynthia Vickery — $500

My name is Cynthia Vickery and I am attending Glendale High School. I’ve been awarded a $500 dollar scholarship. I plan to major in Baking and Pastry Arts at GCC and transfer to the Art Institute in Santa Monica. I have actively participated in the Bistro program for 3 years.

Mark Nayra — $1,000

My name is Mark Nayra. I am a varsity volleyball player at Glendale High School. I am going to attend PCC and plan to transfer to UCLA. I plan to major in Civil Engineering. This scholarship will really contribute to my hopes and dreams in the future.

Catherine McDonald — $500

My name is Catherine McDonald and I attend Glendale High School. I will attend GCC and transfer to UCLA, majoring in Journalism. I have been a member of the GHS dance/drill team for two years. Our Co-ed dance team took place four at Nationals for our ninth consecutive year.

David Nalbandyan — $1,000

My name is David Nalbandyan and I’m currently attending Glendale High School. I plan on entering GCC’s science program and later transferring to UCLA to major in Mathematics. I have been involved in many clubs and sports, and have volunteered as a youth basketball coach and as a tutor.

Anet Babayan — $1,000

My name is Anet Babayan, and I currently attend Glendale High School. I plan to attend California State University of Northridge next year, taking full time courses and pursuing my goal as a Kinesiologist. After earning my bachelors, I would pursue my dream and work with athletes providing the best rehab and care center. I have participate in Associated Student Body, been part of diving and have competed in C.I.F. division one championships for three continuous years.

Linda Mossessian — $500

My name is Linda Mossessian and I am a senior at Glendale High School. I plan to attend PCC and transfer to UCLA or USC as a Film and Television major. I’m interested in the critical studies of film and am interested in the production process.

Maral Antwan — $2,000

Maral Antwan is currently attending Glendale High School. She was awarded a $2,000 scholarship. She will attend Pasadena City College and major in chemistry. Her goal is to become a pharmacist. She is a scout leader to girls ages 9-11. She devotes her Sundays to teaching them scouting skills and doing arts and crafts.

Irene Jang — $1,000

My name is Irene Jang & I attend Glendale High School currently. Next year I will attend UC Berkeley as a molecular cell & biology major on a pre-med track to become a pediatric cardiologist in the future. I hope to go on medical missions as a doctor. My name is Sevana Gharaptyan and I attend Glendale High School. I have been awarded a $1,000 scholarship and plan to use the scholarship to attend the scholars program at GCC. I intend to major in nursing and/or anthropology, and afterwards apply to medical school. I am currently serving my term as the American Red Cross Youth President, and have been a two year participant in the local Relay for Life events.

Marianne Guballa — $1,000

As a high school senior in Glendale High School, Marianne Guballa has been involved in numerous music classes. She has earned her position as Marching Band President and Drumline Captain. She plans on using her $1,000 scholarship to go to GCC next fall to further her education, with Psychology as her major.

Shake Ter-Gukasyan — $1,000

My name is Shake Ter-Gukasyan and I am a senior at Glendale High School. I was awarded a one thousand-dollar scholarship by the Glendale Community Foundation. In the fall, I will be a freshman attending UCLA. I plan on majoring in Sociology and possibly pursuing a career in law. One of the most memorable times of my high school experience was volunteering with the Glendale Red Cross Chapter for 3 years. I helped teach first aid classes, organized blood drives, and took part in various community projects.

Astghik Sargsyan — $500

My name is Astghik Sargsyan. I’m currently a senior at Glendale High School. I have just been awarded a $500 scholarship for which I’m very thankful. Next year I will attend Glendale Community College and then I will transfer to Woodbury University to study Interior Architect/Design. I have been a part of many clubs in school and currently hold the position of the Armenian Club’s Vice President. I have also participated in activities outside school including art, dance, poetry, and various volunteer works. I have many goals and dreams among which are being a successful interior designer and opening up a school for arts. I’m looking forward to achieving all my goals and helping others.

My name is Arevik Saakova. I attend Glendale High. I applied for a Glendale Community Foundation Scholarship and fortune smiled on me, and I won the prize of $250. Next year I plan to attend Glendale Community College and then transfer to California State University, Northridge to study Business and to become an Accountant. While at GHS, I have volunteered one hundred hours at Glendale Adventist Hospital and have been an active member of some clubs.

My name is Angineh Torosiyan and I am a student at Glendale High School. I am involved in AVID club, Class Council, and GHS track. I am a member of CSF and National Honor Society. I am planning to attend Glendale College and major in biology. Recently, I received a five hundred dollar scholarship.

Jacob Spruill — $1,000

Throughout his 4 years in high school, senior Jacob Spruill has participated in a little bit of everything. With years spent in Drama, Spanish, and Student Government, he has come close to fulfilling his insatiable thirst for knowledge. Participating in more than five on-campus productions, Jacob plans on minoring in theater and targeting Biological Sciences as his major. My name is Ella Sogomonian and I attend Glendale High School, where I have worked on the Explosion newspaper staff for three years. I have recently been promoted to Assistant Editor-in-Chief and help manage the business ads and take pictures. A total of $1,000 was awarded to me by the Glendale Scholarship Endowment Fund. I have accepted to attend Chapman University in the upcoming year where I plan to major in Broadcast Journalism and their Dodge College of Media and Arts. I plan to pursue a career in either radio or television broadcasting. My ideal job would be to work for an entertainment television program as an anchorwoman.

Karen Asatourian — $500

My name is Karen Asatourian, also known as Garen. I am a senior at Glendale High School. I have been awarded $500 through the Glendale Community Foundation. I am planning to attend Cal Poly Pomona University starting June 24, 2007. My college major is Electrical Engineering. I am planning to earn a Masters Degree in this major. I am also interested in music, art, and sports. I am a composer of music and I also play guitar, bass, piano, keyboard, and drums. I have attended many concerts in which I have performed and received awards.

My name is Alene Aroustamian and I am a senior at Glendale High School. I was blessed with being awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the foundation. I am going to attend USC in the fall as a member of their Thornton School of Music with an intended major in vocal performance. Ultimately, my dream is to be an actress on stage and camera. The stage is my second home. I am a member of the LA Children’s Chorus and have performed at the Music Center & Hollywood Bowl. I am also a member of ASB and the drama department at GHS and intend to continue these activities at USC as a member of the Trojan family.

Kristen Muche — $250

My name is Kristen Muche, and I am a senior at Crescenta Valley High School. The scholarship that I have been awarded is in the amount of $250 from the Glendale Community Foundation Endowment. This coming fall, I plan on attending Azusa Pacific University as an art major with a minor in psychology. My career goal is to become an art therapist, working with all ages of individuals whose most effective means of communication is through the emotional release, and expression, of art. After my four to five years of school ending my junior and senior year of college I plan to go to an art school afterwards. I them plan on receiving my master’s degree in expressive therapies back east. In preparation for this career choice, I have taken four years of art classes and an advanced placement psychology class at Crescenta Valley High School. The collaboration of these two subjects has greatly aided my understanding of how art therapy works. In addition, I have volunteered at Kids Art, and art studio for youth in La Canada, and at Metropolitan State Hospital, a mental institution located in Norwalk, California. At Metropolitan State Hospital, I worked under the wing of my teacher, Mr. Howarth, from Art Center College of Design, where I spent every Saturday during this past summer taking his three-hour figure drawing courses. With Mr. Howarth’s assistance, I was able to work with groups of patients who undergo art, music, and drama therapy to better enhance their social, and personal, behavior. I am looking forward to my upcoming years in college to enhance and refine my skills in art and psychology and , most importantly, growing stronger as an individual and aspiring art therapist.

Yeseul Lisa Youn, who attends Crescenta Valley High School, will receive a $2,000 scholarship. Throughout her high school career, she has pursued research outside of class. This fall, she will attend the University of California, Los Angeles, where she plans to major I Biology.

Estelle Kim — $1,000

My name is Estelle Kim and I am a senior at Crescenta Valley High School. For this scholarship, I was awarded $1,000 and I plan on using this money to help pay for my tuition at the University of California, San Diego where I will begin to pursue my career as a pharmacist.

Artin Galoosian — $500

My name is Artim Galoosian and I attend Crescenta Valley High School. I received a scholarship in the amount of $500. I will attend the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Public Health Sciences with an emphasis on Infectious Diseases. I have been a part of Homenetmen Ararat Scouts for about 11 years and am currently a troop leader. I also conduct the HIV research at the University of Southern California, Childerns Hospital of Los Angeles. I am President of the Armenian Club and Academy of Science and Medicine. I am planning to attend the University of California, Berkeley next year as an Architecture Major. Over the past four years I have been the French Club President and have been an active member of the Armenian Club.

Astrid Castaneda a recipient of $500 from the Glendale Community Foundation. She currently attends Crescenta Valley High School and will be attending the Ohio State University in the fall as a Biology Major/Pre-Med. She is a four year member of the women’s varsity soccer team and Sports Editor of the Crescenta Valley High School’s newspaper, The Falcon.

Catherine O’Neill — $1,000

Catherine O’Neill, the recipient of the $1,000 Glendale Scholarship Endowment, attends Crescenta Valley High School. Pursuing her passion for journalism, Catherine has contributed to the campus newspaper as Staff Writer, Feature Editor, Photographer, and Co-Editor- In-Chief. She plans to pursue a career in journalism at the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Kisa Ito — $500

Kisa Noreen Ito is currently a senior at Crescenta Valley High School. Throughout high school, her focus was playing Varsity Tennis and participating in a Buddhist youth league. She was awarded with $500 and next year, will attend Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. She plans to major in Spanish Linguistics.

Myra Nishizaki — $2,000

My name is Myra Nishizaki and I attend Crescenta Valley High School. I have been awarded a $2,000 scholarship that I plan to use at the University of California, San Diego in the fall where I will major in Biology. My main extracurricular activities include playing school and club volleyball and volunteering for various organizations.

Kelsey Wong — $1,000

I am 17 years old and attend Crescenta Valley High School. Throughout my life, I have volunteered for many organizations. Taking care of Special Education students at Crescenta Valley has most positively influenced my life. I am gratefully accepting the $1,000 scholarship. This fall, I will be attending the University of California, Irvine, majoring in their newly accredited Bachelors of Science, Nursing Program.

My name is Keaton Ray. I go to Crescenta Valley High School and received a $1,000 scholarship. I will go to University of the Pacific where I’ll study Kinesiology and work with a gymnastics team. I am a member of National Charity League, Track, Cross Country, and I did gymnastics for 10 years.

My name is John Cody. I live in La Crescenta and have attended Crescenta Valley High School for the past four years where I enjoy playing volleyball. I plan on majoring in Biology at the University of California, San Diego where I know the $1,000 scholarship will be put to good use.

My name is Joe Cody and I attend Crescenta Valley High School. I’ve been on the volleyball team all four years. I’ll be attending the University of California, San Diego in the fall and majoring in Mathematics. I plan on becoming a Mathematics teacher. I am very thankful for this $1,000 scholarship.

Christiana Bashian of Crescenta Valley High School was awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the Glendale Community Foundation. She plans to attend San Diego State University, double majoring in nursing and kinesiology/sports medicine. Chelsea Johnson, a senior at Crescenta Valley High School, has been very involved with the Crescenta Vally High School Choral Department and is currently the Student Conductor of the Charismatics Chamber Choir. She also serves as President of the National Honor Society and is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Chelsea plans to attend Brigham Young University next year where her $2,000 scholarship will be greatly appreciated.
