Border issues to be topic of meeting

Daniel Sheehy, a journalist, national speaker and activist for border and immigration law enforcement, will be speaking at the Glendale Workshop Republican Women Federated meeting at 11 a.m. Monday at the Glendale Elks Lodge, 120 E. Colorado St., Glendale. The luncheon is $15.

A day for the survivors

Glendale Adventist Medical Center will celebrate Stroke Survivor Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the main auditorium of the medical center, 1509 Wilson Terrace, Glendale.

Information for stroke patients and their families about the signs of having a stroke, its prevention and treatment will be presented along with stories from stroke survivors.

Red Cross to offer first-aid classes

The Glendale-Crescenta Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross will offer discounted standard first-aid lessons on “Super First Aid Saturday” from 8 a.m. to noon or 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at 1501 S. Brand Blvd.

Attendees will be certified in addressing emergency issues, from bleeding to heat strokes.
