Crescenta Valley High School Pep Squad Girls Take on Dirty Job

Girls in various shades of blue, equipped with sponges and covered in soapsuds, made cars sparkle and shine at the CVHS pep squad car wash on Saturday, June 30. The lot rang with Falcon spirit as groups of girls washed, rinsed, dried and polished everything from compacts to SUVs. Their tireless effort raised funds for the booster club that will help pay for equipment, competitions, and extra coaching for the girls throughout the year.

“Each girl has to sell ten [car wash] tickets at $6 each,” explained advisr Vickie Bouldin. “Last year we raised $7,000.”

Each girl was required to give up three hours of her Saturday to attend the event, but not one of them complained. Some washed, others rinsed, and they rotated the various jobs throughout the day, always keeping a smile on their face.

“It’s for a good cause,” said student Megan Allen.

Parents and members of the booster club were also present, helping to keep the wash organized and the cars moving. Some parents took on the task of keeping the girls motivated by playing upbeat music and encouraging them to do a good job.

The end result was squeaky-clean cars driving around town. And perhaps the most amazing part was the girls did it all by themselves.

“The football boys were supposed to come and help out, but I don’t see any of them here!” said Bouldin, with a laugh.
