Event set to perk up cancer support

Members and guests will stretch their imagination to create interesting entries in this year’s Bras for a Cause fundraiser on Saturday at the Oakmont Country Club, 3100 Country Club Drive, Glendale.

Organized by Soroptimist International of Glendale, the event begins at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and viewing of decorated bras. A dinner and live auction begin at 7:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “Bras for a Cause Goes on Vacation.”

Funds raised will go to breast cancer services at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Glendale Memorial Hospital and Verdugo Hills Hospital, as well as to other charities that improve the lives of women and girls.

Glendale Beautiful celebrates Arbor Day

Glendale Beautiful will have its annual Arbor Day Program beginning at 10 a.m. with a coffee social and program at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael, 1330 Dorothy Drive, Glendale. The rain location will be the lower level of the Glendale Civic Auditorium, 1401 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale.

The event is sponsored by Glendale Beautiful in cooperation with the city of Glendale, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Division.

Those who donate to the program receive a certificate. Trees donated by the community will be used to landscape city parks, library areas and schools. To order a tree, call Gladys Wymore at (818) 246-3634.
