Let’s celebrate an extra day on the calendar for Leap Year. So, what are you going to do with your extra day? I’m going to make the most of mine.

Leap Year gives us 366 days every four years with a few exceptions. Here’s the technical stuff. The rules that decide Leap Years are these:

Every year divisible by 4 is a Leap Year. But, every year divisible by 100 is not a Leap Year unless it is also divisible by 400, then it is still a Leap Year. We need these Leap Years or our seasons and calendars would be confused. Eventually we would have summer weather at Christmas time, oh my.

Leap Year is a great opportunity to have an extra day to conduct business. I hear that Boston Market is offering a free lunch to anyone born on this auspicious day. But don’t worry if your business doesn’t have a special discount on this fine day — good business is all about customer service and relationships and today can still be an exceptional day.

Whether you are a business owner or community member, please join us Wednesday, March 5 for our monthly mixer.

This month it will be hosted by the Glendale Teachers Association at 3233 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale (just north of La Crescenta Avenue and the Oakmont Country Club golf course).

The festivities will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monthly mixers are a great place to network your business or just get to know your neighbors in a relaxed and friendly environment. Admission is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Light refreshments are served and a wonderful atmosphere is always assured.

These mixers are open to the entire community and provide a place to socialize and say hello to old friends and meet some new friends as well.
