The Glendale Design Review Board #1 will review the new dealership facility for Bob Smith Toyota at its meeting at 5 p.m. on March 5 in Room 103 of the Municipal Services Building, 633 E. Broadway.

The 69,300 square foot building at 3322 Foothill Blvd. was first reviewed by the DRB on Sept. 27 and returned to the applicant for redesign. It was scheduled to be heard Feb. 7, but when that meeting was canceled for lack of a quorum it was scheduled for March 5.

The board will deal with community concerns about parking and impact on the nearby residents on Mary Street.

Additionally, the DRB has referred a proposed three-story medical office building on Verdugo Road back for redesign, using the services of the planning department’s urban design studio.

The proposed 29,900 square foot building is planned for a parking lot at 1809 Verdugo Road, next to an existing medical building and about 100 feet north of Verdugo Hills Hospital.

Applicant Suong Lee presented a design for an office building with two levels of underground parking, relating to the building to the east, which currently uses the proposed site for parking.

Design board members suggested the new building be differentiated in appearance from the existing structure, built in the 1980s, and that landscaping and a courtyard be added. The board also suggested that the entrance be reconsidered and possibly relocated.

The board suggested the applicant work with city design staff and come up with a new design which can come back to the board for preliminary consideration.
