Holy Redeemer loses to OLL

Holy Redeemer girls’ basketball team A played tough against Our Lady of Lourdes, but ultimately lost 23-10. Regardless, they will move onto the CYO playoffs Saturday at Providence High.

Throughout the game, the girls fought hard and the teams were evenly matched. In the first half, Erinn Quintana scored all five points for the Crusaders. Later in the second half, Brooke Vallier and Monique Candiff each scored points and Kaylan Rothrock, Hailey James, and Julia Helberg played great defensive games.

“This game was difficult for us, but we tried our best,” said Vallier and Helberg. The Crusaders girls’ team A finished the season placed second in their league.

CV Frosh, JV volleyball get victory

While the varsity team may have lost, freshman/sophomore and junior varsity boys’ volleyball teams both got wins against Village Christian, both 2-1.

The freshman team lost their first set 22-25, but made a strong comeback in the second 25-11. They took the third set 15-11 to win the game.

The JV squad struggled early, losing the first set 25-23. But a couple of double-touches by Village Christian gave the Falcons an early lead in the second set, but some poor serving gave the lead right back. The JV squad took a more solid lead in the middle of the set thanks to some great serving by Eric Boyd and went on a ridiculous 13-3 run to close and win the set.

The Falcons ran away with the third and final set and never looked back, winning it 15-6.
