Crescenta Valley 13, La Cañada 1: Shortstop Baillie Kirker and first baseman Ashleigh Viers-Gordillo both had multi-hit, multi-RBI games to get the Falcons’ season off to a fast start in the first round of pool play in the Duarte Tournament on Saturday.

Viers-Gordillo, the reigning All-Area Softball Player of the Year, led off the game with a home run and finished two for four with 4 RBIs.

Kirker, the 2006 Player of the Year, went three for five with six RBIs, including a grand slam.

Second baseman Sissy Sovreign also had a good day at the plate, going two for four with two RBIs.

Kali Cancelosi started the game and pitched five innings for Crescenta Valley, which takes on Whittier in another pool play game tonight at 7 p.m.
