BOYS’ TENNIS

Glendale 11, Mark Keppel 7: Glendale’s No. 1 doubles team of Mike Astorian and Nick Daka swept its three sets to lift the host Nitros on Thursday in a nonleague match. The duo lost just three games.

Nitro singles players Jeff Asano and Ashot Papikian each won a pair of sets. Glendale (4-1) also got two victories in doubles from Gerald Young and Bushra Abdelmalak.

Arcadia 14, Hoover 4: Sean Guerin won two singles sets Thursday for the visiting Tornadoes in a Pacific League match. Hoover fell to 1-5 and 0-2 in league.

BOYS’ GOLF

Monrovia 196, Flintridge Prep 218, Duarte 252: Senior Hasan Doxey finished with a three-over-par for the Rebels (4-2) on Thursday in a nonleague tri-match at Altadena Golf Course.

BASEBALL

Hoover 8, El Monte 2: Jason Ochart picked up his second victory of the year on the mound and belted three hits, including two doubles, to lead the Tornadoes to a win on Thursday in the Arcadia Elks Tournament.

Sako Chapjian picked up three hits — including his third home run of the year — and scored three runs, while Tyler Delzell blasted a two-run homer for the Tornadoes (2-2). Johnny Barcena collected two hits and knocked in two runs.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Glendale 89, Maranatha 81: Sophomore Katalina Sher won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes and 15.65 seconds and the 200 freestyle (2:00.75) to lead the visiting Nitros (2-1) in a nonleague meet Wednesday.

Senior Casey Sripramong won the 50 freestyle (26.0).

The Nitros trailed, 79-77, entering the meet’s final event.

Shaggy Abolian, Jade Wilia, Sripramong and Sher teamed up to give the Nitros the victory by winning the 400 freestyle relay (4:03.25).

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Glendale 95, Maranatha 71: Senior Vaspur Ovasapyan captured the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes 11.58 seconds on Wednesday to lift the visiting Nitros (2-0) in a nonleague meet.

Senior Nick Lim took the 50 freestyle with a personal-best time of 23.69.

Arman Galstyan, Artur Hovhannisyan, Ovasapyan and Lim teamed up to win the 200 medley relay (1:52.09).

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Citrus College 3, Glendale Community College 2: Four errors plagued the Vaqueros, as Citrus scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to walk away with the win on Thursday.

Kelly Korras gave up just four hits on the afternoon, but left with the hard-luck loss.

Glendale college (12-5, 5-2 in the division) pounded out nine hits.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Santa Monica City College 5, Glendale Community College 4: Monique Palmera, Meldia Hacopian and Sonia Rodriguez each won their singles sets for the host Vaqueros on Thursday in a Western State Conference Southern Division match.

Palmera and Hacopian, a Glendale High graduate, won the lone doubles set for the Vaqueros.
