Orchestra, choir combine for show

The Glendale Youth Orchestra and the Southern California Mormon Choir will present the second concert of its 19th season at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd.

The first half of the concert will feature the Glendale Youth Orchestra performing Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 in D.

The orchestra will be joined by the Southern California Mormon Choir in a performance of 14 favorite choruses from Handel’s Messiah after the intermission.

Tickets are $9.50 and may be purchased from the Alex Theatre box office. Students, seniors and groups of 15 or more may purchase tickets for $6 each. For more information, call (818) 243-ALEX.

Eggs decorated at the Galleria

An Easter egg decorating class will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Williams-Sonoma Grand Cuisine in the Glendale Galleria, 2148 Glendale Galleria.

Participants will be shown how to decorate Easter eggs with decals, markers, glitter pens, crayons, ribbons and more. The class is free.

Temple offers Purim events

Temple Sinai of Glendale will host two events for the holiday of Purim at 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday at 1212 N. Pacific Ave.

The events will include activities for children and a reading of the book of Esther, which will also feature a Broadway show-style, humorous presentation of the story based on the musical “The Sound of Music.” For more information, call (818) 246-8101.

A ‘spirited’ car show at church

The Spirited Wheels II Car Show will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday rain or shine at the Glendale Presbyterian Church, 125 S. Louise St.
