Food, games and entertainment are planned for the Hoover Street Scene from 3 to 8 p.m. May 3, said Kathy Van Houten, Hoover High School PTSA president.

Hoover High School and the Purple Circle parents group are once again teaming up for this spring carnival event to be held in the quad of the Hoover High School campus.

Presented as a Hoover community fundraising event, families from local elementary and middle schools are invited for a fun-filled day of great food, games, entertainment, raffle prizes with live music and dance performances by school orchestras, bands, drill and dance teams and more.

Admission is $5, food and game tickets are 50 cents, and raffle tickets are $1. The grand prize is $1,000. All proceeds benefit the Hoover High students. Toll Middle School

Everyone is invited to attend the next Toll Middle School PTA Association meeting at 7 p.m. April 10 in the library, said Shirley Cuentas, PTA president.

The program will include elections of officers for next year’s PTA executive board.

Balboa Elementary School

The Founders Day celebration was a big success, said Sara Khosravi, Balboa Elementary School PTA president. She thanks Anjik Minaeian and Lousik Geozalian for catering the delicious food.

Congratulations to Honorary Service Award recipients Sara Khosravi, parent volunteer, and Edgar Bullington from the Grandview Library. Jody Gallagher received a Continuing Service Award. Lousik Geozalian received a Very Special Person Award.

Franklin Elementary School

The Domino’s Day fundraiser is scheduled for March 27, said Ibet Acevedo, Franklin Elementary School PTA president.

Order from any Burbank or Glendale Domino’s Pizza store and the PTA will receive 25% of the sales to benefit the Franklin students.

There will be a Parent-Principal social in the Parent Center at 9 a.m. Friday. Topic to be discussed will be the upcoming Franklin Fiesta scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. April 11. Volunteers are needed for this event.

The PTA after-school art class session two will begin from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. March 27. The session will run for 10 weeks every Thursday. Kindergartners through third-graders are invited to sign up.

Franklin Open House will start at 5:30 p.m. April 2. All are welcome. The next PTA meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. April 8. For upcoming events, call the school office at (818) 243-1809.

Jefferson Elementary School

Anyone who would like to serve on next year’s PTA executive board should call Faith Gloria, PTA president, or the school office.

Mark Keppel Elementary School

The Korean Program at Keppel has begun a Korean class for all students wishing to attend. It meets at 8 a.m. Thursdays. Contact the front office if you are interested in having your child enroll.

The last day for Track C will be April 4, which is a minimum day. Track D returns on April 8. Spring break is from April 14 to 18 for students on the traditional calendar.

The Mark Keppel PTA supports the California State PTA’s campaign to “Flunk the Budget” proposed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

PTA is opposed to any cuts to education and children’s programs from the state budget. More information can be found at www.capta.org. Parent Visitation Day has been rescheduled to June 6. For more information, call the school office at (818) 244-2113.
