Glendale Community College Annual Student Art Show continues in the Art Gallery in the Library Building of the campus, 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale. Traditional and digital artwork created by advanced students and selected by faculty will be displayed. Drawings, paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture, photography, graphic design, three-dimensional design, jewelry, video, animation and Web design are all included in the exhibition. St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Fellowship Club will have guest speakers Steven and Kristy Morrell, of La Crescenta, who will be sharing photos and memories from the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra’s recent European tour at 7:45 p.m. at the church, 1020 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale. He is a composer and arranger and she plays the French horn. Social hour begins at 6. Forest Lawn Glendale celebrates Memorial Day beginning at 1 p.m. at the memorial park, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale. The event begins with a memorial march at the Little Church of the Flowers, which will proceed to the burial site of a soldier who served in the Civil War. Glendale Mayor John Drayman will read the Presidential Proclamation. Civil War re-enactors from the 100th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry-Company K will be featured. Author Laurie Viera Rigler will be reading from her novel, “Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict,” at 7 p.m. at Glendale Central Library, 222 E. Harvard St., Glendale. Participants are invited to bring their favorite teacup and enjoy tea, scones and cookies along with the storyteller. Admission is free. Glendale Adventist Medical Center presents a free lecture on surviving stroke from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1509 Wilson Terrace, Glendale. A panel presentation by physicians and stroke survivors will address families, caregivers and stroke survivors. The doctors will talk about how to prevent recurrent strokes and general awareness.
