The city of Glendale’s Adult Recreation Center and Sparr Heights Community Center will be open weekends beginning July 1 so that seniors can escape the heat. Participants can watch television or movies, play board games and socialize. Lunch is available for a suggested donation of $2.50. The Adult Recreation Center, 201 E. Colorado St., will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m Sundays and can be contacted at (818) 548-3775 for lunch reservations. The Sparr Heights Community Center, 1613 Glencoe Way, will be open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays and can be contacted at (818) 548-2187 for lunch reservations no later than 10 a.m. on Thursdays.
