Alex Theatre posts an updated website

Officials last week unveiled a new website for the Alex Theatre that includes updated calendar features as well as new guides to local restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

The new website, www.alextheatre.org, will allow users to add events to social-networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace and receive real-time event listing notifications for events.

Alex Theatre is at 216 N. Brand Blvd.

Comerica Bank opens branch in city

Texas-based Comerica Bank on Wednesday opened its fifth San Fernando Valley branch and first in Glendale at 525 N. Brand Blvd.

Comerica, which seems to be unaffected by other business closures due to the slowing economy, has opened a spate of new banking centers in 2008.

Other Valley locations include Burbank, Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Woodland Hills.

There are now 86 Comerica Bank locations in California, an increase from 41 in 2004.

The Brand Boulevard location will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays from and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
