Mystery author to visit bookstore

Once Upon A Time Bookstore will hold a book signing at 7 p.m. Wednesday with best-selling adult mystery author and former New York City police officer Craig Johnson.

He will read from his book “Another Man’s Moccasins,” which was a featured pick of the week by Publisher’s Weekly.

The bookstore is at 2207 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose.

? Group discusses several issues

The Glendale Education/Social Justice Advocates steering committee will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Pacific Park Library.

The committee aims to provide balanced, straightforward information about military recruiting, sex education programs and health textbooks, which advocate for an abstinence plus curriculum rather than an abstinence-only program. The group will also support the actions of gay-straight alliance clubs and other social issues.

The library is at 501 S. Pacific Ave. The meeting is open to the public.

? Swim programs to begin today

The summer aquatics programs will begin today at the pools at Glendale and Hoover high schools.

The programs include recreational swim, instructional swim, Glendale Gators swim club, Glendale Polo Bears water polo, junior lifeguard academy and special aquatics events.
