Open Studio Tour deadline extended

The deadline has been extended until Friday for artists and arts organizations who want to participate in the fifth annual Open Studio Tour set for Sept. 14.

There is no charge to participate, but a completed application, as well as a CD with digital images of artists’ work, must be submitted by 5 p.m. today to 613 E. Broadway, room 120.

Artists who participate in the tour are eligible to show in the Brand Library art gallery exhibition.

One piece of artwork will be accepted per participant.

The Open Studio Tour will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 14. Artists are invited to open their studios to the public for free throughout the day.

Store holds teacher appreciation day

The Staples at 213 N. Glendale Ave. will participate in Staples’ national Teacher Appreciation Day on Aug. 9.

The first 200 teachers to visit the store that day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will receive a 512 Meg flash drive giveaway as well as raffle prizes.

Teachers will also have a chance to check out new products, such as the Crayola Dry-Erase Magnetic Eraser.
