“Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam, Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.”

— John Howard Payne

August is the time many people of the Crescenta Valley take off to roam castles and palaces of afar. It is a time to gather your family and great friends to explore different destinations of this wonderful world we live in. Vacations are a great time to renew and refresh. It is a great time to reconnect with your families and enjoy other parts of this earth. Remember as you travel to these far away places that it’s the journey, not the destination that counts. Enjoy the time away with your friends and family and know that this very trip you are embarking on will be impressed into your family history forever, so be thankful for every minute you get to have on your travels.

We all know that upon your return there really is no place like home, especially here in the Crescenta Valley. Right here in the Crescenta Valley we have such great places to explore. You can take a day trip that most people would travel from far away to experience. You can refresh with a hike at Deukmejian Wilderness Park, or see fine art at the Brand Library and Art Center. You can sit and have tea at the spectacular Descanso Gardens. You can visit the Ananda Ashrama with its beautiful structures and lush acreage. You can take a tour of the Lanterman House and explore its exquisite interiors and furnishings. You can do some shopping at Historic Old Town Montrose. There are so many cool things to explore and so little time.

Nothing is as wonderful as the town coming together for a HomeTown Country Fair. We know you will not want to miss this gathering of fun and frolic at the Crescenta Valley Park. Please join us on Sept. 13 for carnival rides, antique cars, games, arts and crafts and much more. This is going to be the biggest event of the year for the Crescenta Valley. We still have room for you to be involved, too. If you have an antique car or sell handmade goodies and would love to take part, call the Chamber office to be involved in the Hometown Extravaganza!

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce wishes you happy travels, with many pleasures and palaces to roam, but welcomes you back where “there’s no place like home.”
