On July 24 the Crescenta-Cañada Lions Club honored six high school graduates, including three Crescenta Valley High School graduates, at its annual scholarship presentation. Members of the Lions Club, the scholarship recipients and their family members gathered at Grandview Palace in La Crescenta for the dinner and Lions Club meeting.

According to the Crescenta-Cañada Lions Club President Art Rinaman, the scholarship recipients were chosen on the basis of need, excellence in academics, attitude and spirit, and community outreach. Each student was presented with a $1,000 check and shared their future plans with the other scholarship recipients and the Lions Club members.

CV graduate Marissa Robertson will attend Williams College in the fall as a chemistry major, while Philip Shin is set to be a psychology major at Princeton University and, someday, a medical school student. Angie Lim will be attending UCLA as a biology major.

Lim was absent from the presentations due to a three-day college orientation.

Each scholarship recipient showed direct and extensive involvement in their schools, participating in extracurricular activities such as Key Club, choir, and sports.

“We have a great group of scholarship recipients this year,” said Rinaman. “These students and their achievements exemplify the name of the Lions organization, and demonstrate the spirits to go on succeeding in their lives.”
