Five local artists are showing their work from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily at Carriage House Art Gallery at Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. The show runs through Sept. 18. This collection of new work ranges from pottery and ceramic sculpture to oils portraying Western landscapes. The artists include David Gilbaugh and Don Siminski, both of La Crescenta; Alyce Cox of Montrose, Karen Winters of La Cañada Flintridge and Laura Wambsgans of Santa Clarita. ?

Glendale Arts will benefit from a fundraiser titled “Chi Chi’s For The Arts!” from 6 to 8 p.m. at Damon’s Steak House, 317 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale. There will be food, fun, Mai Tai’s, Chi Chi’s and soft drinks. Bring a friend and get a prize from a surprise mystery sponsor. Tips plus 10% of the bill will donated to Glendale Arts, a private nonprofit organization, charged with managing the Alex Theatre and coordinating arts resources. Happy House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building better families, co-founded by Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson, is hosting a series of workshops on “How to Achieve your Goals to lead a happy life” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at The Way To Happiness Foundation International, 201 E. Broadway, Glendale. Presented by Richard Stewart, Advanced Level Toastmaster, actor and writer, it will continue on the first and third Thursdays of the month. “Glendale Beautiful will have its 58th annual Fall Dinner Meeting at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael, 1330 Dorothy Drive, Glendale.
