Glendale Beautiful gathers for dinner

Glendale Beautiful will have its 58th annual Fall Dinner Meeting on Friday at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael, 1330 Dorothy Drive, Glendale. Social begins at 5:30 p.m., and dinner, which is being catered by Damon’s Steak House, begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $20. Entertainment will be provided by Ann Louise Christensen, singer-songwriter. Temple Sinai welcomes public

Temple Sinai of Glendale will have an open house at 6 p.m. Friday at the temple, 1212 N. Pacific Ave., Glendale. The temple is a Reform Jewish congregation. The event is to introduce the public and prospective members to the temple and its leaders. There will be a Shabbat dinner and family night services. The event is free. All-around artist is guest speaker

The Verdugo Hills Art Assn.’s meeting will feature Renaissance artist, painter, photographer and potter Richard Martinez at 7 p.m. Friday at the Citibank Community Room, 2350 Honolulu Ave., Montrose. The meeting is open to the public for a $5 donation. For more information, call (818) 249-9006.

Panel will discuss short-film writing

The Alameda Writers Group will host the “Short Film Writing and Production Panel” at its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Glendale Central Library, 222 E. Harvard St., Glendale. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. Admission is free and the library validates parking in the Good Guys parking structure at Harvard and Maryland streets.
