GIRLS’ TENNIS

Arcadia 12, Glendale 6: No. 1 singles player Sevana Zargarian paced the Nitros at Arcadia with a pair of wins, 7-5, 6-0.

Samantha Sismundo and Hana Jang each notched 6-1 wins in singles for Glendale (6-3, 3-2 in league).

Hoover 13, Pasadena 5: The host Tornadoes picked up their first win of the season Thursday.

Hoover (1-8, 1-6 in league) turned to singles player Galinie Sogoyan, who swept without losing a game. China Schmidt and Soo Noh picked up a sweep in doubles, losing just seven games.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

La Serna 14, Crescenta Valley 10: The Falcons, ranked second in CIF Division VI, lost on Tuesday at Pasadena City College to the second-ranked team in Division V. Nelson White had three goals for the 7-2 Falcons.

WOMEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY

Vaqueros capture Foothill Invitational: Glendale college won its fourth straight meet of the season Saturday on the 3.1-mile course.

Glendale college sophomore Justina Sadauskaite posted a first-place finish with a mark of 18 minutes 24 seconds to help the Vaqueros collect 27 points. Angelina Gonzalez clocked 19:18 to finish third for the Vaqueros, who got a fourth-place effort from Rosa Del Toro (19:20), a fifth-place finish from Bridgette Fernandez (19:21) and a 14th-place effort from Kristine Kaneich (20:09).

MEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY

Vaqueros take fifth in invitational: Crescenta Valley High graduate Nathan Sellers paced Glendale College with an eight-place finish of 20 minutes 53 seconds on Saturday at the Foothill Invitational. The Vaqueros claimed fifth place with 127 points.

Jonathan Alpizar of Glendale college was 23rd overall in 21:45. Francis Herrera clocked 21:55 to place 28th for the Vaqueros, who got a 30th-place finish from Francisco Quijado (22 minutes) and a 38th-place effort from Steven Carillo (22:24).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Moorpark College 3, Glendale Community College 1: The Vaqueros (4-4) finished the week with a 25-22, 19-25, 27-25, 25-22 loss to Moorpark on Sept. 26.

Glendale college started off the week Sept. 23 with a 25-23, 25-20, 16-25, 16-25, 15-11 win against Santa Barbara City College.

Aya Nakano collected 21 kills, 10 digs and a pair of aces for the Vaqueros, who got 43 assists from Nicole Diller and 12 digs from Beverly Gonzales.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark College 2, Glendale Community College 1: The Vaqueros dropped to 3-2-3 this season with a loss to Moorpark on Sept. 26.

MEN’S SOCCER

Glendale Community College 4, Compton College 1: The Vaqueros improved to 3-2-4 on the season with a victory Sept. 26. Glendale college began the week Sept. 23 with a scoreless tie against East Los Angeles College.
