Church collecting e-waste to recycle

The First Baptist Church La Crescenta will be collecting electronic waste to recycle between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday. The event will be at the church, 4441 La Crescenta Ave.

The church asks that items such as TVs, phones, photocopy machines, household batteries, printers and other computer software be dropped off in its parking lot during the event. All items will be recycled legally by E-waste Center Inc. For more information, call (818) 249-1603.



Calligraphy course at Forest Lawn

Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries will host The Art of Calligraphy Workshop from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

Local artist Bonnie Ebbs will teach participants about the art form by using the Declaration of Independence as inspiration to create calligraphy that is similar to the historic document. The event is free.
