Third annual animal blessing

The public is welcome to attend the Third Annual Animal Blessing on Sunday at 1 p.m. Jan. 11.

The Animal Blessing benefits the Glendale Humane Society.

In addition to monetary donations, the Animal Kinship Ministry Team of Carolyn Young and Kailey Martinez-Ramage are asking for donations of rugs, sheets, towels and blankets.

La Crescenta Presbyterian Church

 La Crescenta Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley G. Adamson as its new director of children’s ministries. Adamson, a native of San Diego, attended New York University where she majored in English literature. Adamson served as director of a music program for pre-schoolers in Manhattan. She is an accomplished singer and has sung lead roles in some NYU musicals as well as in off-Broadway musical reviews.

Adamson’s duties in her new job involve managing all aspects of the Children’s Ministry Department at the church and instituting a new program for elementary school age children called FISH (First I Serve Him).

Additionally, Adamson makes weekly visits to the classrooms at the Center for Children where she teaches a curriculum that involves music and singing.

 Money Matters series offered

La Crescenta Presbyterian Church offers a new and pertinent sermon series titled “Money Matters” at 9 and 10:45 a.m. Sundays.

Senior Pastor Andy Wilson offers basic strategies for staying out of debt, keeping a balanced perspective and seeing money as a gift and a trust from God.

 Christianity 101, 201 classes offered

La Crescenta Presbyterian Church is offering two Wednesday night classes from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The first class, Christianity 101: What Christians Believe, will serve as a starting point for new Christians and people who are exploring the Christian faith. The class is open to everyone and will be led by Lee Cook in Koopmans Hall.

The second class, Christianity 201, will be for those Christians who want to explore a deeper relationship with Christ and grapple with spiritual issues in a safe, welcoming environment.

This class will be led by Pastor Andy Wilson in the sanctuary. Child care and children’s activity groups are available for ages 6 months to 14 years old.

 Church offers PULSE ministry

Crescenta Valley Community Church’s People United by Love to Serve Each Other, or PULSE, brings joy and hope to those sick and hospitalized.

 Short-term assistance provided

Crescenta Valley Community Church’s Touched by an Angel ministry provides meals to those who call Crescenta Valley Community Church their church home, and to anyone else in the surrounding community who needs assistance.

Volunteers assist on a rotational basis, and prepare and deliver meals as the need arises for a limited period of time.

This allows the individual or family sufficient time to recover or identify other resources to assist them. Volunteers generally prepare no more than one meal a week.
