2009 Tournament of Roses Parade:

Share

The city of Glendale’s “Sneak Preview” float was awarded the Past President’s Trophy at the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena on Jan. 1. Over 400 volunteers dedicated hundreds of hours to create the float that was decorated with flowers, rose buds and seeds. The 35-foot float recreated the golden days of 1930s Hollywood by depicting historical Alex Theatre. Many volunteers from Crescenta Valley worked on the Glendale float as well as the La Cañada float, “Mechanical Melodies” that won the Animation Trophy. The La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association will have the float on display in Memorial Park at 10 a.m. on Jan. 10. Visitors are invited to drop by and see the float and take home flower souvenir. The association is also holding a contest for those creative individuals who would like to submit a concept for next year’s float. The theme will be “2010 — A Cut Above the Rest.” For information visit the website at www.lcftra.org.
