CV girls’ b-ball loses to Muir...

Crescenta Valley girls’ basketball lost to Muir Wednesday night, 47-26. The game wasn’t particularly close, as the Mustangs (7-3, 1-0 in league) led the whole way and led 30-14 at the half.

Jenn Aydin led the way for CV with seven points while Cassie Pappas and Lorrin Cheeney each had six. Mel Samvalian led the team with nine rebounds and Dani Vargas had three assists.

Last week, the Falcons (8-6, 0-1) took home a big win, on Dec. 31, crushing St. Monica 68-29.

The girls’ play at Glendale tonight at 6:30 p.m.

... But boys return the favor

CV boys’ basketball team beat Muir Tuesday evening, 65-47.

No stats were reported.

CV (7-5, 1-0 in league) plays Glendale tonight, at Glendale, at 7 p.m.

Prep girls’ soccer takes two big ones

Though they were outshot 11-8, Flintridge Prep girls’ soccer defeated Mayfield at Arroyo Seco Park on Tuesday, 2-1.

Mayfield (4-7, 0-1) opened the scoring first in the seventh minute when forward Elena Buckley knocked one past Prep goalkeeper Stephanie Bathke.

In the 47th minute, Brooke Elby got one past the Mayfield goalie on a pass from Alex Baptiste.

No more than a minute later, Baptiste knocked in the game-winner and the Rebels took their second league game.

By going 2-0 in league play under first-year Head Coach Esteban Chavez, Prep has equaled last season’s total wins league play.

The Rebels (6-4, 2-0) repeated their escapist ways on Wednesday night, narrowly beating San Marino, 4-3.

With the game tied 3-3 and with only a minute left in regulation, it looked like things were going into overtime until Elby scored the game winner (79th minute).

It was Elby’s second of the night, she also had two assists. Ellie Redding and Alina Okamoto each had a goal.

Tologs snag first league win

Flintridge Sacred Heart girl’s soccer beat Harvard-Westlake Wednesday evening, 1-0, for their first league win of the season.

Tera Trujillo had the lone goal for the Tologs.

Sacred Heart (8-3-3, 1-0) will play Chaminade today.
