Crews rescue two hikers in Verdugos
Rescue crews saved two hikers Sunday afternoon after they called for help because one was injured on a mountain, fire officials said.
One of the two hikers called emergency officials at 2:50 p.m. Sunday from his cell phone after he was injured while climbing in the Verdugo Mountains near Brand Park, said Capt. Chris Guerrero of the Glendale Fire Department.
The hikers needed help off the mountain, so a Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department helicopter rescued them, he said.
They were taken to Brand Park, where Glendale paramedics treated the injured hiker and allowed him and the other hiker, who was not injured, to go home, Guerrero said.
