Daddies, daughters hit the dance floor at Valley View

“Glitter, glam, and glitz” was indeed the perfect theme for the third annual Daddy/Daughter Dance held at Valley View Elementary last Friday. The school’s auditorium was decked out for the special occasion, complete with washlights, neon green sparkles and hanging lights.

The glamorous scene began even before guests entered the dance floor. A red carpet stretched out before the auditorium door with “paparazzi” from numerous magazines surrounding the building. As each father and daughter, formally dressed for the event, walked upon the red carpet the pesky fans — student volunteers from the Crescenta Valley High drama department — would request an interview, an autograph, or both. A limousine stationed outside also gave each couple a chance to take home a memorable shot from the event.

Inside, a huge “Hollywood” sign stood atop the stage, courtesy of the Crescenta Valley High stage art crew. Golden stars resembling those from the Hollywood Walk of Fame could be seen on the walls, with a female attendee’s name written across every star.

After a dinner of chicken and pasta, couples rose from their tables to dance to a variety of upbeat numbers, including those by the Rolling Stones, Jason Mraz and Katy Perry. Carla Walker, principal of Valley View, could even be seen with her own father throughout the evening.
