AMGEN returns to Foothills

Share

Gentlemen, start your peddling.

The California AMGEN Tour, the cycling event that trails through California and pits some of the world’s best cyclists against each other in a tour, is coming back to the Foothills this year.

The eight-stage event, which runs north-south from Sacramento to Escondido, will run the same path it did last year, through Angeles Crest and on down Commonwealth Avenue, in stage 7, on Feb. 21. Stage 7 will start in Santa Clarita and end in Pasadena.

The road map (seen left) shows they’ll run through Angeles Crest before taking Green Lane to Princess Anne Road to Lynnhaven to Commonwealth Avenue to Berkshire. The race will end at the Rose Bowl.

The big story this year is the return of Lance Armstrong. Armstrong, who won seven Tour de France titles in his prime, has come out of retirement to race again and is racing in the AMGEN Tour.
