Lorraine A. White

Lorraine was born on May 15, 1917 and died on Feb. 4.

She was born in Minneapolis, Minn. to Enid and Nels Skow and grew up to marry Harvard C. White on Dec. 10, 1938. They lived in Minneapolis until Harvard was drafted into the U.S. Army. The family moved to Tacoma, Wash. where Lorraine worked for the Ordnance Department at Mt. Rainier Ordnance Depot while Harvard served in both Europe and the Pacific. They returned to Minneapolis upon his discharge in 1946 and moved west to Glendale in 1952. They were married 65 years.

Lorraine worked for many years at Rico Manufacturing in Burbank. After leaving Rico, she worked with Harvard at his upholstery shop, Gallagher’s Furniture, until his retirement in the late ’80s. Both enjoyed traveling, “playing the horses,” and participating in the Pioneer Club of the Foothills.

She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson Thomas Kendall White; brothers Norman, Lawrence, Merlin and sister Betty.

She is survived by two brothers, Lowell Skow and his wife Dorothy, and Ron Skow and his wife Doris; her sister Julianna Dow and her husband Don.

Memorial services will be Feb. 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Crippen Mortuary, 2900 Honolulu Ave. in La Crescenta. Final resting place will be Forest Lawn in Glendale.
