Council forum has foothill focus

The Crescenta Valley Community Assn., in conjunction with the Far North Glendale Homeowners Assn., will host a City Council election forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Dunsmore Park Community Room, 4700 Dunsmore Ave.

Candidates will be quizzed on strictly foothill-related issues, which center on development, preservation and open space.

Weight-loss rally is for charity

Glendale Healthy Kids will be hosting the Losing It for the Kids Rally today to cheer on board President Brian Bergh and board member Ardy Kassakhian on their progress toward meeting the April 18 deadline of losing 12% body fat.

The charity event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Gourmet A Go Go, 2263 Honolulu Ave. Chef Gail Connell will present a healthy cuisine menu from which 10% of purchases that evening will be donated to Glendale Healthy Kids. For more information, call (818) 548-7931 or visit www.losingitforthekids. org.

Awards luncheon for Latino group

The Glendale Latino Assn. will host its Awards and Installation Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Embassy Suites, 800 N. Central Ave. Honorees are Woman of the Year Anita Quiñonez Gabrielian, Man of the Year Patrick Campbell and Business of the Year Glendale News-Press.
