CALLING ALL FILMMAKERS

Share

Assemblyman Paul Krekorian joined teenagers at Clark Magnet High School on Friday to produce a commercial for the second annual FilmFest43, a showcase of student shorts to be held at the Alex Theatre on May 15.

Krekorian is calling for submissions for the competition from students throughout the state’s 43rd Assembly District, which includes Glendale and Burbank.

Krekorian’s office received more than 100 submissions for the festival last year, when Anna Tschetter, a student from Burbank’s John Burroughs High School, won the “Best of Show” award for her nine-minute silent film.

Selected submissions will be shown at the Alex during the festival, which is an effort to encourage students to explore career possibilities in filmmaking, Krekorian said in a statement.

The student films must be original and less than 15 minutes. They can be in any genre, but must be entirely produced, directed, edited and filmed by student contestants.

Submissions must be turned in to Krekorian’s office by April 7.
