GREEN CERTIFICATION

The college is seeking an industry-standard green certification for its Garfield expansion project.

Levy will recommend that the board approve a $34,000 agreement with Glumcac, an environmental engineering firm, that will survey the project for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certification.

The company will analyze the electrical, lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as part of the survey.

Funds for the survey will come out of the college’s Measure G construction budget.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The board is expected to approve the agreement.

ELECTRONIC ADMISSION

Trustees will decide whether to adopt a new electronic admission and application system that is used by the California Community College system.

The college would pay an initial setup fee of $5,796 and another $11,000 in annual maintenance costs to XAP Corporation if the system is adopted.

The state’s community college application website, www.cccapply.org, functions as a gateway to its 110 institutions.

The college will pay for the system setup with an allocation from the Measure G fund, and will maintain the system through money in the existing admissions budget.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The board is expected to approve the agreement with XAP Corporation.

REPLACING THE PRESIDENT

The Glendale Community College Board of Trustees will seek input from the community on how the college should go about replacing President/Supt. Audre Levy, who will resign at the end of June.

Trustees are debating whether to search for and hire a new president/superintendent to take over the post when Levy steps down, or to perhaps find an interim replacement. The board could also appoint a current administrator as the college’s acting executive.

The board will hear comments from the public before proceeding into a closed session to deliberate on the best course of action.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The board is not expected to take action during this public hearing and discussion.
