“A Fresh Look at the Economy: Is There a Brighter Future Ahead?” will be presented at Glendale Community College at 3 p.m. in the auditorium, 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale. Admission is free. The speaker is economist and author Robert Goodman, a consultant and economic advisor to Charles W. Mason & Associates, Inc. Goodman wrote the book “Independently Wealthy – How to Build Financial Security in the New Economic Era,” published by John Wiley & Company.

The annual Student Art Show opens with a reception from noon to 1 p.m. in the Glendale Community College Art Gallery in the library building on campus, 1500 N. Verdugo Road, Glendale. The show ends June 6. The show, created by advanced students and selected by faculty, includes drawings, paintings, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, traditional and digital photography, graphic design, two- and three-dimensional design and jewelry.
