PTA Beautification Day gets boost
The Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School PTA Beautification Day got a much needed boost from Mormon Helping Hands of the La Crescenta Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The school’s PTA had planned their annual Beautification Day, anticipating about 35 volunteers to do the work. Fortunately, Mormon Helping Hands offered to help the school as its quarterly local service project, adding another 140 sets of “helping hands” to the project.
In about two hours they planted flowers throughout the grounds, including around the school’s front sign and in all the teachers’ flower boxes. They also pruned, trimmed, cleaned out all dead leaves under the bushes, planted vegetables, spread truck loads of mulch, weeded around the bungalows, emptied the recycling bins, and did basic clean up.
Congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout California participate in Mormon Helping Hands Day two or three times a year, working on local projects to be of service to their communities.
