Float association to host gourmet dinner

The Glendale Rose Float Assn. will host a fundraising dinner Saturday, with the proceeds helping to decorate the city of Glendale’s float in the 2010 Pasadena Rose Parade.

The “Princess Dinner” will be prepared by award-winning chef Jerry Salthouse and is a re-creation of a dinner Salthouse prepared for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1971.

The cost of the dinner is $125 per person. The dinner will be at the Glendale Elks Lodge and begins at 6 p.m.

Author to talk pioneer, Grizzlies

Nat Read, author of “Don Benito Wilson: From Mountain Man to Mayor,” will discuss the book and its story at 7 p.m. Monday at the Center for Spiritual Living in La Crescenta.

The book chronicles the story of Wilson’s journey as “pioneer, beaver trapper/ trader, grizzly bear hunter, Indian fighter, justice of the peace, farmer, rancher, politician, horticulturist, vintner, real estate entrepreneur, and one of the great land holders in Southern California.”

The center, formerly known as the La Crescenta Church of Religious Science, is on the corner of Dunsmore Avenue and Santa Carlotta Street.
