Crescenta Valley High School students, their familes and friends, gathered in CVHS’s MacDonald Auditorium on June 7 to honor the Class of 2009.

Senior Reflections, as it is known, featured speakers from senior class members and Associated Students senior class members, including remarks from Shelby Denton, senior class vice president; Yuri Kims, senior class president; and senior class advisor Reid Merlo, who graduated from Crescenta Valley in 1999.

Seniors, in their caps and gowns, gathered at a north side entrance to the auditorium lobby before the ceremony, talking with friends, taking pictures with cellphones and digital cameras and enjoying the moment.

The colors were presented by a CVHS ROTC color guard detail, and the National Anthem was sung by Charismatics seniors.

Instructor and former C.V. football coach Alan Eberhart was the keynote speaker.

The Class of 2009 quote was taken from Confucius: “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

The ceremony ended with all singing the school’s alma mater.
